Bronxville Chamber of Commerce

Dear Neighbor and Colleague,

2007 was my first year as the Executive Director of the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce and I can emphatically say that I have been amazed by the value that merchants and service providers get with their Chamber membership.  I would categorize that value in four ways:

Liaison with Local Government Officials

  • Meetings with the Mayor and Village Trustees give members an opportunity to speak face-to-face in a relaxed atmosphere with the people who can make a difference in Village life.
  • The Chamber’s Board of Directors works with local government officials to represent members’ business concerns.

Advertising

  • RNN-TV:  The Chamber’s video highlighting the attractions of shopping or working in Bronxville will run from May through October 2008.
  • The Guide:  Members enjoy a bold-highlighted listing in this telephone directory of businesses, residents, services and general information, which is mailed to over 6,000 residents and businesses in the 10708 zip code area.
  • Website Listings:  Giving exposure beyond the Village borders, the member businesses are listed on the Chamber’s website bronxvillechamber.com (.org or .net) which is linked to the Village’s website villageofbronxville.com and to myhometownbronxville.com.
  • Referrals:  The Chamber is often the first point of contact for prospective residents or businesses seeking information about Bronxville schools, healthcare, professional services, employment opportunities, shops and restaurants.

Promotions To encourage shopping in our village stores we help keep the business district beautiful with the help of the Boulder Ledge Garden Club by planting flower boxes for our merchants in the spring; and, with the Village, hanging festive wreaths and ribbons during the holiday season.  We also sponsor many events to attract shoppers and visitors, including:

  • Spring and Fall Sidewalk Sales:  A flurry of activities throughout the business district
  • Spring Street Festival:  Live entertainment and al fresco dining on Park Place
  • The Farmers’ Market:  Co-sponsored with the Village, Saturdays from June to Thanksgiving
  • Summer Band Concerts:  A village tradition on the lawn of the Bronxville School
  • Fall Children’s Festival:  An afternoon of games, rides and refreshments for young children
  • Light up the Town:  Christmas shopping while Santa and carolers spread holiday cheer
  • Bronxville is a College Town:  Encouraging students from Concordia College and Sarah Lawrence  to shop at participating local merchants who offer student discounts

Sharing and Development of Business Skills

  • Membership Meetings:  Featuring keynote speakers on topics and issues of interest, aimed at helping members improve their business
  • Business and Social Events:  Opportunities to network and share your business experience
  • Quarterly Newsletter:  A brief but informative recap of chamber activities, ‘Spotlighted’ members, dates to remember and Village matters that affect business

Finally, there is the intangible benefit of the spirit and commitment of the Chamber’s Board and its members.  We are vitally involved in keeping the business and service opportunities in Bronxville viable and vibrant.  While we honor tradition, we are not content to rest on our laurels.  We welcome new voices, new ideas, promotions and suggestions.

With so many advantages, it is no wonder that more than 200 merchants and business professionals support the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce with their membership.  The Board of Directors and I invite you to join them and to participate in the activities that make Bronxville such a unique community in which to do business.

The cost of a Chamber membership is only $150.00 per year.  To become a member, please complete and detach the form below and mail it to the Chamber’s office along with your check.
